That’s why the Microsoft Educator Network awards badges for the skills and knowledge that are learned and shared through our online professional learning community, in our in-person events, and in school communities around the world.

How do I earn these?
Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) badge
Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE)
Educators who are passionate and committed to empowering learning through technology in their classrooms.
  • Register and create a profile on the Microsoft Educator Network (MSEN)
Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert badge
Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert
Educators who are thought leaders in innovative learning with technology and want to amplify their reach and voice to all educators.
  • Complete the application process on the MSEN educator page and be chosen as Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert in 2014.
Microsoft Innovative Educator Fellow badge
Microsoft Innovative Educator Fellow
Educators who have demonstrated and built strong MIE Expert or Trainer achievements and can dedicate more time to work with Microsoft and educators to transform classroom learning.
  • Complete at least a year with Microsoft as a top Expert Educator or Trainer and be invited to become a Microsoft Innovative Educator Fellow.

  • Simply by becoming a member of the Microsoft Educator Network and establishing your school profile
Microsoft Innovative School badge
Microsoft Innovative School
A school committed to exploring, planning and developing a culture of innovation by participating in the Microsoft Innovative Schools Program online
  • Your school has completed the four requirements listed under the "What is Required" tab on the Innovative Schools page.
Microsoft Pathfinder School badge
Microsoft Pathfinder School
A school committed to developing a culture of innovation through participation in Microsoft Innovative Schools Program.
  • Your school applied and was accepted as a Pathfinder school in the Microsoft Innovative Schools Program in 2010, 2011, 2012.
  • This designation was retired in 2013. All schools may now apply to become a Mentor School.

  • Join MSEN, attend a Microsoft train-the-trainer session and complete the assessment.
Microsoft Innovative Educator Master Trainer badge
Microsoft Innovative Educator Master Trainer
Educators and education aligned trainers committed to training teachers who are approved to train on behalf of Microsoft and their training providers.
  • Be an experienced MIE Trainer who is invited to become a MIE Master Trainer in 2014.
